81 and many more to go.

81st birthday cake
This cake was for my Grandmother-in-law's 81st birthday. This cake was designed to be bright, fun, and having the essence of a celebration. I was very pleased with this. My wife and mother-in-law designed it. The birthday girl loved it!

Crikee! The elusive leopard-print wedding cake. She's a beaut!

Leopard print wedding cake
This reception was held in a very exclusive banquet facility called the Capital City Club. I was super excited about this one. The wedding cake is a 12in, 10in, and 8in, buttercream fondant covered red velvet cake surrounded by 50 red velvet cupcakes and 50 sour cream pound cake cupcakes.

Cletus Mouse

Fondant Mickey Mouse Head
This is my attempt at making a recreation of Mickey Mouse's head. It is made out of fondant and measures 3 in tall and 2 1/2 in wide. As an aside, I remarked to my wife that if Mickey had a cousin Cletus from the South, this would be a good representation of him!

Our Solar System

Solar system cake for Nephew
This was for my 7 year old nephew who like space things, meterology, etc.
The cake is WASC which is colored like a rainbow with 6 different colors. The icing is black airbrushed butter cream. The planets are handpainted fondant. This was a very cool cake and it turned out great.

Dead on Target

My brother's birthday cake
My brother is very hard to get any info from, so when I asked him what kind of birthday cake he wanted he said I don’t care- just a plain cake. So I said, "ok... plain cake with roses?" and he said that was fine. Anyway, the more I thought about it since he likes target shooting, why not do a target cake with a gun and bullets? It turned out well and the gun was awesome. It was one of my best.

Spring is in the air

Display cake for JoAnn's
The 2nd Saturday of every month JoAnn's has an open house and since I’m the WMI I have to be there. I always bring an iced plain cake decorate in the store. I never know exactly what I will be doing. This is what I came up with this past open house

My 1st class

I posted awhile back that I'm a Wilton Method Instructor (WMI) and I'm glad to say that my 1st class will meet tonight. I'm excited about getting started. Woohoo!

Egg in a Basket

Easter Egg in a Basket
This was made for my Grandmother's Easter get-together. I think it turned out rather well. Everything is white cake with buttercream and the small eggs are fondant covered in sprinkles. Happy Easter!

Coming up Daisies

Fondant Daisies and Vase
This was my second attempt at flowers. Since I try to do everything as detailed as possible, this was going to be no different. I was very pleased with this piece.

Smells sweet

Red Fondant Rose

I was going to make a dozen fondant roses for my wife on Valentine's Day but decided not to.  I still wanted to make one though, so this is how it turned out.

A lot to live up to

The cake
The logo
Blink 182 logo cake
My co-worker (the one I did the F-150 cake for) wanted me to do her son’s 17th birthday cake. She said since the 1st one (the f-150 cake) was outstanding I had a lot to live up to. She wanted a logo from the band Blink 182 on his cake, so, the best way I could think of to do it was airbrush it. Two problems with that though: 1) I haven’t used my airbrush in almost a year so I was out of practice, and 2) I had to cut out a logo with a razor knife which was tough to do. But after about 10 hours arguing with and cussing at this cake, it was complete and he loved it when he came with his mother to pick it up. She was happy and said his friends were jealous. My job here is done.

The New WMI

I filled out a prescreen form about 3 months ago for a WMI (Wilton Method Instructor) and have been sitting in on classes with the WMI that taught me to gain some insight on teaching cake decorating. I did an interview on Wedensday with the EC (education instructor) at the new Joann's and just got a call that my hard work paid off.

Anniversary cake for My son's 2nd b'day

Drew's 2nd b'day cake
This was for Drew's 2nd b'day party which marks the 1st anniversary of me and my cake adventures. The reason I started doing cakes was becasue of Drew's 1st b'day cake so I wanted to make this one a special one.
